Not All Red Salty Plums Are Created Equal.

The Salty Plum Shop Team · August 21, 2020 · 6 Comments

We often get asked about salty red plums, and which ones we recommend. People ask What is the most popular Red Salty Plum.

The problems with this question are all sweet and salty.

When you hear the word salty plum, you think salty right, well this is right and wrong. The range of plums varies as much as soft drinks, and this article is to help you find the exact red plum you are looking for.

Types Of Red Salty Plums

There are three basic types of red salty plum, and these can be broken down further into soft and hard in each of the ranges.

  1. Salty (soft-hard)
  2. Sour (Tangy) (soft-hard)
  3. Sweet (soft-hard)

The salty Red Salty Plum: This salty plum has more salt than sugar and mostly comes in a dry texture. If you are trying it for the first time, the salt hit will shock your tongue. We sell a plum that is called a sweet red plum in the Goldfish Brand. But this plum is salty despite the name. It has a firm following that absolutely will not try any other plums.

The Tangy Red Plum: This is what we call the original Darwin plum. It is a mid-textured between dry and moist and has a tangy sour taste that we call an exact mixture of salty and sugar.

It has other ingredients to get that exact tangy taste, but this is one old school plum.

tangy red semi moist salty plum

Red Sweet tangy plum: This Plum is more sweet than salty and more sweet than tangy, and the texture in most cases is moist. But this does change with the weather and sometimes is problematic with customers because of consistency in saying that it is by far the most famous plum and has developed quite a cult following. People know it as the pink Lady Plum.

Questions To Answer before you Decide.
