From time to time, customers contact us asking why the salty plums they buy have different levels of moisture—basically, the salty plums texture changes. This article was written for our popular red plums.

Salty Plums are a beast unto themselves.

Because of the plums drying process and the time of year moisture in the plums differs. This, in turn, decides if the plum will be dry or moist.

Salty Plum Texture Varies With the seasons.

Depending on the time of year, for instance, when it’s humid or wet, the plums are moist.

And when it’s dry in Summer, they are drier. Also, from time to time, there are supply issues, which means we substitute with a plum from a different supplier, these plums are practically identical because they use the exact ingredients.

So on infrequent occasions, the Salty plum texture might change because of manufacturing processes.

How Can I get The Exact Same Plum every time?

There are 3 ways to get the same exact textured plum every time.

1. Order At the same time every year.
2. Fall In Love with A Drier Plum.
3. Dry out the moister plum

The darwin Plum is our very own Salty Plum. It is slightly drier, it’s dry soft not dry hard. Our Salty Plums use a different drying process, so they are more consistent.

How to fix your moist plum problem.

• We are in Darwin and keep the plums on our shelf and sell them singularly. The containers are open to the air (not airtight). So in the past, this is what we have recommended because the plums have a lot of salt. They are already very preserved, the air causes them to dry naturally.
• Alternatively, you could dry them in the oven. For instance, you will need to experiment. Some people only want them a little dryer, and some want them super dry.
